Here’s how to fix it, in order:
Temporarily disable Windows Defender and antivirus
Click the Windows Start button and search for “Windows Security,” open the app, go to Virus & threat protection → Manage settings, and switch “Real-time protection” to Off. Try installing or updating Office again — remember to turn protection back on afterward.
Run SFC and DISM scans
Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open Command Prompt as administrator. Run each command below one at a time, pressing Enter after each:
sfc /scannow
Restart your PC, then if the error persists, run:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart your computer and try installing or updating Office again.

Download Microsoft’s official removal tool, run SetupProd_OffScrub.exe, choose the Office version installed on your PC, select Next, and follow the prompts, restarting when asked.
